I just turned 50 in May of 2008 and was not happy with my physical appearance, was I stuck in a rut, maybe, fooling myself, definitely. It was not like I didn't exercise, I had been faithfully going to fit camps for 2 + years and I was definitely fitter but never able to lose that stubborn weight. I inherently knew it was my diet, (believe me I have read all the books) regardless I couldn't seem to change. Then one day after fit camp Corky Fontana mentioned a 12 week program geared toward weight loss, I was skeptical. After a week of contemplating the idea I realized that I needed help if I were to succeed and who better than Corky, someone I respected at the gym, someone who lives by example, someone who is positive and encouraging. So I took the step and said "Corky I want to lose 20lbs in 12 weeks" of course his response was "you can do it, I have a plan for success", this was Friday, by Monday morning he had emailed me a detailed weekly menu and exercise plan. We met Monday morning and he went over the menu plan in detail, going over portions and timing of the meals. This one on one service I think was the key, he was always encouraging, patiently answering all my questions but more than that, it was the genuine enthusiasm in his eyes that went beyond his words. After the initial meeting Corky would follow up weekly via email or whenever our paths crossed at the gym, again always encouraging, always positive. I won"t bore you with the details of the plan as they would likely be different for each person, suffice it to say it was a new way of eating and extra cardio exercise.
The results were unbelievable I lost 20lbs in 5 weeks and after 12 weeks I lost 31lbs (was 215lbs, now 184lbs) and I have been maintaining that weight loss since, even though I don't follow the plan to the letter anymore. Just a note, during this 12 weeks were the Christmas holidays and a week vacation in Mexico, so there was lots of "real" life temptations. The maintaining is easier now that I understand what my body needs and how it processes foods, again this is thanks to Corky and his knowledge of the body.
Don't get me wrong it was hard work, it takes discipline, self control and the desire to succeed but I would never have done it on my own , not without Corky's help and that of the staff of the Playground. There is no replacement for a positive attitude, positive encouragement and understanding of what you are going through. Thank you Corky, thank you Playground staff for helping me reach my goal of a healthier, happier self.

Corky is a childhood friend, someone whom helped shape my manhood during my transition from boy to man. This transition was such a crucial time in my life, a time fraught with confusion, testosterone, and fear. I wanted much for myself, but lacked the chutzpa, the direction, and felt torn between following through with my good intentions, and letting my truth pass me by.
The truth is, I didn't need a friend too tell me to be a good guy, what I needed was a strong figure in my life. A strong figure who lead through example, made no excuses, and who let their light shine bright, with no apologies...
This was a time where I needed to see someone who had the strength of mind, to follow through with the hard work that it takes to create personal triumph in ones life. Corky Fontana has been that man in my life... Corky has helped shape who Tyson Kilmer can become, as a man.
I believe that the measure of a man, is not based on his intension, but on the action one takes to manifest that intension, that intension is Gods insight, and that action is what determines weather God is alive in the man....

My first impression of the Playground was that it was bright, clean, spacious, and well equipped. The staff has been very helpful,
courteous, upbeat and they have such a great attitude. I have received
sincere one-on-one attention and they have helped me feel more positive
about getting back in shape. I would, and do recommend the playground to my friends and associates, keep up the good work!

I went to the Playground for a change of scenery and it gave me new energy for my workouts. The staff are very fun and supportive and I feel they have invested interest in seeing their clients meet their health and fitness goals.

The Playground is more than a gym. It is a team of professionals who set their intentions and go about creating an atmosphere that is inspiring, motivating, and fun, and most of all--Genuine. Each time I go there I feel empowered and reminded of one of Goethe's cuplets; Whatever you can do or dream that you can, begin it!! Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it.
-- Beau deRoy
The Playground has changed my life and I feel quite passionate about it. I do tell what a great thing it is to everyone I meet.

Before I came to the Playground I thought you needed to eat healthy to look good, but now thanks to the Playground, I eat junk all day and still fit into my highschool bluejeans.

As a paraplegic, it is not always easy to find people who are willing to put in the extra effort and work with me and my unique situation. I felt uncomfortable at the thought of working out in a co-ed gym, so I attended a ladies' program for a short time. It quickly reached a point where I couldn't attain further benefits, so through the encouragement and success of a friend and co-worker I finally got up
the courage to join the Playground and I could not be more pleased. As it turns out, no one looks at anyone else as they are busy doing their own thing. Friendly,
knowledgeable, and well-educated staff are always available to help me in both diet and exercise. My first meeting with a staff member made me feel like I had known him for years. He encouraged me to concentrate on diet as well as exercise. Although everyone pitches in and helps when needed, a Personal Trainer works with me on a regular basis. He adjusts my routine to maximize my benefits and keep it fun. Everything I need is right here... food supplements, exercise equipment, guidance and encouragement. I am able to put my full effort into a better and healthier lifestyle and I feel great-what more could a girl want? I call on ladies of all ages and physical conditions to come and try it. You won't be disappointed

I have been a member of the Playground for a relatively short time, but I am also glad that my daughter convinced me to join her here. As a senior citizen, I know I need to be as fit and as healthy as I can. A Trainer created a program specifically for my needs that is easy and interesting for me to follow. Another Trainer also gives me one-on-one help anytime it is needed and adjusts my program as I continue to strengthen. I value their counseling and advice in all aspects of their programs
including diet and supplements that have significantly lowered my blood pressure and that is why I am very appreciative of their professionalism. All the staff at the Playground are a happy, helping group and I look forward to my workouts and keeping fit. I want to be here with my family as long as I can!

I just celebrated my one year anniversary at the Playground and never in my life have I ever stayed
committed to a fitness routine. Through the amazing fitness programs like Fit Camp and spinning, I have learned to be accountable for myself and the "be there" in both mind and body. I thank the Playground staff for being so darn nice and offering a welcoming atmosphere that is suitable for all. Thank you!
--Marnie Watkin
I have found the Playground to be such a great place to work out. All the staff are helpful and friendly. I have never been able to keep with a program, but I have been coming consistently for one year now and I NEVER get bored or discouraged. I would recommend the Playground to anyone.
--Joanne Ellison
Since becoming a member in November 2006, I have looked forward to coming in and
working out. On average I come four to five days a week and the staff are always positive and VERY motivating. Boot camp is probably the most fun you can have while working out. The spinning classes are a great way to burn a lot of calories in one hour. The best part of the Playground is definitely the staff. Thanks everyone!

I kept coming because this is my refuge. This is where I'm happy in my soul. I've been a witness of so many people bettering themselves. This is a place that has helped my confidence as an athlete and as a mother and as a friend. This place is really great...you come here and they plant seeds and then you go out there and you spread them.
--Carolina Polanco
It's a home!
--Cherie-Ann Taylor
I'm a new member and I'm exited about being healthy again and having more energy and fitting into some old clothes that have been sitting in my closet. It's like getting a whole new wardrobe for free.
--Celina Mason
I love the place so much, I'd wanna work here!
--Chris Wilkinson
Great atmosphere. It's unlike other gyms in the area. The people all seem like they are having fun. They seem to want to be healthy.
--Hana Taiji
I like to hang out here.
--Riley Taiji
I enjoy my time here. I just started back at the gym and got a personal trainer. Everyone's realy friendly. It's a comfortable place to work out with no pressure. It's something I think I'll continue with!
--Jennifer Cheong
It's the best gym I have been in. The environment is comfortable and welcoming. The staff are amazing and so friendly. The gym has everything I need, and they are open late! I am always exited to work out here. Even if my day didn't go so well, it always ends on a positive note after working out here.
--Danielle Carswell
I've been coming for a year and I find I'm sleeping better and I've been rescued from years of immobility and lower back pain. I hired a trainer and began taking supplements. I also went from a size 38 to a size 34 waist. I have also dopped 20 Ibs.
